Here is my latest project for my grand daughters (and they are indeed MOST GRAND!). Because of snug living conditions, a bunk bed for them was a prudent parental choice. The bunk bed is constructed of paint grade maple and finished naturally with Sherwin-Williams Wood Classics Polyurethane Varnish.
I have signed and dated each headboard with my Oxford Woodworks L.L.C. logo, depicting the outline of Oxford Peak - which rises prominently to the west of my shop located in beautiful downtown Oxford, Idaho. I signed each so that if and when the two grand daughters wish to claim a part of gramPAW's bed, they each have a autographed copy.
As the picture illustrates my shop includes the living room. Dust free finish areas are nonexistent in the shop.

Mackintosh Super Sized
Here is the latest piece of furniture to come from the shop of Oxford Woodworks LLC. This chair is an adaptation of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's "Curved Lattice Back" chair from the Willow Street Tea Room. I've changed the height from 48 inches to 63 inches and made the seat 10 inches deeper (from 16 inches to 26 inches). This change not only made the chair more imposing but it's new scale now fits the huge room in which it will reside. The "Super Sized" or "Mackintosh on Steroids" chair, because of its seat depth, is now much more comfortable for sitting and reading a good book. I have loved Mackintosh's furniture since I first made two copies of the "Curved Lattice Back" chair in the early 1980's - and hope he doesn't mind the artistic license I used while creating this chair.

Tapered Leg Bookcase
I am revisiting this bookcase on the Blog with additional pictures that highlight the beauty of this piece of furniture. The construction is of plain and quartered cut white oak, fumed with 26% aqua ammonia that reacts with the wood, darkening it naturally. I use no artificial dies or stains but let the oak patina mature over the years to a rich golden color. The size of this bookcase, 42 1/2 wide, 64 high and 15 1/2 deep, with an interior dimension of 12 1/2 depth and 13 between shelves allows for most books and/or three ring binders. The leaded glass doors are unique and function to protect the contents, yet allow for the color and viewing interest of its contents to be seen. They are a well constructed, "Made in Oxford, America" bookcase. All handmade by Casey Fisher, including all his imperfections - the furniture is real. Construction involves mortise and tenon joints, with wood pins used to lock tenons. The bookcase back is made from individual chamfer edged wood slats, and is beautiful in its own right. Presently there are two (2) available, and for the hours spent in R & D, design and building, the asking price is $3800.
End Table
This is the one remaining of three end tables made. It measures 21 wide, 30 deep and 29 1/2 high, with a drawer and single door. The top is parquet wood pieces in the interlocking ring pattern. The cabinet is constructed with mortised and tenon joints, made from both quartered and plain sawn white oak and fumed with 26% aqua ammonia. Finished with satin polyurethane varnish.

Display Case Finished
This is the seventh display case I've constructed. This display case is the same height and width as the others yet I think this one is two (2) inches deeper, from twelve (12) inches to fourteen (14) inches in depth. The left hand door has a catch at the top and the right hand door closes and locks into the left door. There are four (4) 1/4 inch thick glass shelves and three (3) lights recessed in the top with plug and cord with switch coming off the back. 731/2 x 40 x 16 inches

Work has progressed

So, I lost my post - AM I FRUSTRATED!! I wrote something about the "Coffee Table" which is in the works and already 'SOLD!' Then there is the "Slant Leg Low Cabinet with Drawers" as well as the latest "Display Case." I love the furniture I make - it's Mission-Craftsman style made the way I, Casey Fisher, prefer. But it's also time consuming to cut and fit parts, glue, sand and finish so that I end up with a well built "Made in America" piece - something that I would want to own.
